Allow me to be factual. No restaurants outside of Malaysia, or their countries of origin (CoO) can ever claim to 100% the same in Australia. It's just plain ridiculous to say so, unless the restaurant is able to obtain and use the exact same ingredients from those CoO. Any (authentic) reviewer should take this into account and perhaps adjust their opnions accordingly. I've been dining at the Jonker Stree Restaurant (JSR) Doncaster for the last couple of years and not found it wanting of taste, quality, or size. The waiting staff has always been friendly and their beverages well made. My favorite beverage is the 3-layered tea, and one of my favorite dishes is their deep fried whole Barramundi...
As soon as we entered this restaurant we could tell it was the real thing by the number of Malaysian and Chinese diners. We were not disappointed. Unbelievabley tasty food and exteremely friendly staff. James in particular was a gem. When we informed him we were going to Jonker Stree in Malacca in May he sat down and gave us eating, shopping and tourist hints for Melacca and KL. The last time we were in Malacca was 37 years ago so we are looking forward to it. We will be regulars at this restaurant from now on. Excellent.
A very Malaysian Chinese restaurant no frills, plain. Don't look for fine dining. I went undercover as a sole senior citizen. Malaysian service is typically curt, rude and abrupt so don't expect any better. People were there mostly Asian. No Australians. Prices were reasonable. Service reasonably fast. Taste meh. Not if you you know what Jonker Street in Melacca is supposed to be. Overall 3/5. The boss lady was serving you can tell. Bossy

We have been here in a group of 11 to dine in and savour some Malaysian style cooking . The food we order was great like the nyonya sauce barramundi , the pork belly with preserved vegetables and of course their speciality fried chicken wings and Taufu. Very attentive and good customer service from Peng Jie and James . We requested also our special ABC and cendol for dessert . You will never miss your Malaysia food again .
I was a regular customer of this restaurant for years. But yesterday there was a fly in my noodles on the half way I ate. After I throw up ,I called the owner to complain about this issue. Bright clean setting with hard working friendly staff. Curried chicken noodles was delicious however not the best Fried Kway Cheow on this occasion. Other dishes were well presented and looked appealing, but were staggered so you either had to wait or eat separately. Thanks for the vote if you found this review helpful.
Got to try the home made tofu. As a lover of vegetarian food it was fabulous. All food I've ever eaten here was great and recommend. To explore the menu as there is alot to try. And who can resist those ducks in the window. Staff are just lovely and very helpful. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Plenty of parking.

This was our first visit here and was not disappointed! Great food, service and pleasant atmosphere. Even though it was a busy Saturday evening, we felt quite welcomed by the busy but warm hospitality, authentic Malaysian food and family like service. Will definitely recommend and visit again.
