This is a local treasure in the basement of a house in a boatyard at the end of a peninsula. The long time owners Mike and Stephanie just sold the building, but will continue to run the bar for maybe a couple of years. Come here while you can, and more importantly, please come here often and spend a lot of money so it will be such a goldmine that it will continue forever. The basement is dark with walls encrusted in many decades of history, but there's also a patio overlooking the harbor that is an absolute gem in good weather. Jo's is a well-known establishment in Hull. It's a fantastic spot that offers a laid-back and friendly atmosphere. The drinks are always generous, and the bartenders are truly welcoming. I particularly enjoy the historical nautical decor throughout the place. The ambiance at Jo's is truly unique. There's an outdoor deck where you can sip your drink when the weather is pleasant. You serve yourself drinks, and while they only offer chips, you can order takeout from various menus. Occasionally, they have live music, which makes for a very enjoyable evening. Also, their Bloody Marys on Sundays are exceptional!
Fantastic dive bar! My husband and I visited on a Saturday night before our ferry to Boston, and we had a fantastic experience! A live band was performing, and many locals were dancing and having a great time. We ordered two beers, and it only cost us $11! The inside does feel a bit cramped, but they have a lovely patio out back where you can relax and enjoy the view of the water. Please note that it's cash only, but there’s an ATM on-site. We will definitely return if we're in the area again!
They do not serve food here, however, you can bring your own or order from local delivery places. They have menus. The service is great and they make the best drinks. It's a simple place, but that's where the charm lies. There's no fuss or pretentiousness—just great drinks in a perfect setting, especially when the sun is shining and it's warm enough to enjoy the terrace. Don't forget your stylish sunglasses!
I went to the restaurant twice, but unfortunately, I didn’t try the food. However, the female bartenders were very friendly and provided great service. The views from the place are absolutely beautiful.
