Finding somewhere nice to eat has always been a challenge to us, as regular travelers to San Gil, so finding this place was a pleasant surprise. I understand from the waiter that there are two Juan Mar restaurants. I am reviewing the one in the...centro commercial San Gil which is just outside town on the main road to Socorro. The restaurant is situated on the fourth floor and is open on the side facing the mountain so you get a great view, cooling breeze and depending where you sit and time of day a lot of sun ! It has a very Caribbean feel with lounge style music that I loved. Makes a change from vallenato ! I had the langostinos encocados which are jumbo shrimp coated in shredded coconut...
San Gil is a very laid back town packed with extreme sports activities and many casual restaurants to eat at. In the midst of all these, there is a great restaurant that we were told some locals go to for very special occasions (not all because...it is definitely pricey). The place is very simple modern and atop a hill so you get a great view. The food was amazing. Their specialty is seafood and everything was great from appetizer to dessert. The prices are definitely up there but if you are looking for a little bit of an upscale experience or celebrating a special moment romantic or otherwise, you can definitely go here.
The service and the quality of the food always great. (I ve tried: Mojarra, cazuela de camaron, patacon) It does take a bit of time to get your food but it is worth it. Located in the San Gil plaza mall 7 min from the...center of the city. There is one bus that goes to the mall, leaving from the main square/ park of San Gil, every 1hr (free). Ask the locals.
A very unexpected treat It is in a shopping center in a typical grocery shop, but the quality of the food is extraordinary presentation is nice caution the portion sizes are large and would be light enough for 2 I had half sea food... While we stayed in this beautiful country side of Colombia for the weekend, we were so impressed by our first visit, we just had to go back the next day to relive this gastronomic pleasure. We were not disappointed, the seafood was fresh and tasty and was cooked for perfection. The staff was very attentive and friendly.
A very delicious place full of flavors. Special dishes ... Fish. But poultry and beef are found there. Take a good time to spend... Food is prepared fresh, so it is not a fast food service. Price is not bad for the product. Service is great.
Good service, Caribbean style sea food with a great Santander mountains view... The Sea Food Parrillada and Jaivas al ajillo were very tasty... I will come back...

This is a really good place to eat. Great food, beatiful place and a great customer service. It is one of the best in San Gil.
