4 little 6 inch Finn pancakes are 13 bucks no sides, a side of hone fries one medium to large potatoes is a whopping $8 BUCKs! Coffee 3 bucks for tiny cup you are lucky to get refilled. Had not been there in years and this place has fallen apart. Much better food and better prices at Nivas , Tunas, SweetGs and even MacDonald compared to this over priced run down restaurant . Recommendation to anyone is AVOID
Went specifically to try the fin pancakes as we were visiting the area and heard that fin pancakes are something to try while visiting. Had a bacon grilled cheese sandwich and thought I'd order 2 small pancakes with whip cream and strawberries for desert. Much to our amazement the 2 smalls were actually the size of a dinner plate, while absolutely delicious we could not finish it all, we tried hard.
Went in on Pancake Tuesday for my first Kangas visit. More than lived up to the hype. Service was prompt and friendly while the food was just perfect. Bacon? Perfect. Sausages? Perfect. Pancakes? Extra perfect. A member of my party said the eggs Benedict were also perfect. Dirty dishes were removed quickly from the table and our server was quick to offer refills and get the bill.
Best Finn pancakes in town! I came back after 8 years and was looking for Hoito or Scan House. Both are closed now and it worried me that their might not be a good place for Finn Pancakes. I WAS WRONG. Kangas Sauna Finn Pancakes are better than both of those places. My new favorite breakfast spot is now Kangas : Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Great Breakfast. When we visit family in Thunder Bay, we usually go to The Hoito for breakfast. Since that place had a fire recently, we had to find a different spot. A local recommended The Kansas Sauna Cafe. It was great. Good service, great breakfast, good portions, reasonable prices. Yes, we will be back.
Pancake Tuesday for the win! Delicious Finn pancakes, sausages, strawberries and cream with bottomless coffee. So good! Excellent service over a busy lunch hour. Be prepared to wait as it’s a small dining area supplemented by counter/bar stool seating. A Thunder Bay tradition!
Very good. Staff was defintly the stat of the show. The food itself was nicely made, it not a little basic. I felt like the price was a bit steep, especially charging for things like side fries. Overall a very good experience just be prepared to spend a little more.
Hands down the best Finn pancakes in town. A must do every single trip back to Thunder Bay. A huge assortment of ready made foods and beautiful sauna facilities. Gift certificates make perfect gifts for those hard to shop for. The service and the owners rock. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Came here for breakfast after hearing that Finnish Pancakes or Hoito are a local favorite. The food was delicious and well priced, and the service excellent! Would have stayed for a round at the sauna if we 'd had more time!
