I had read the many wonderful reviews about Kim and Carlo 's Chicago Style Hot Dog Stand and knew I had to try it!After The Stan 's Donut 5K recently that started and ended at Soldier Field-I went over and ordered a Chicago Style Hot Dog and a Diet Coke! We never eat hotdogs, but when in Chicago...We were headed to the Field Museum anyway and had already heard about Kim and Carlos via Google Maps. It was nice that it was so close.No line when we got there, but one quickly formed behind us. We ordered two Chicago dogs, with all the fixins!The hotdogs were done just as fast as my card was swiped to pay. $7 for one dog, but I don't have anything in the city to compare it to say whether that's expensive or not. The hotdogs themselves were small, but we really enjoyed the unique flavors with all the toppings. Even my son who really dislikes hotdogs liked it. It was a nice snack to tide us over til dinner. We hadn't eaten all day so it was perfect...
Highly overrated. My local Costco dog tasted yummier sorry to say.It was just a sesame bun with regular hot dog and some unique toppings but toppings were not impressive. On my dog it had a sesame bun (didn't add much to the flare or flavor in my opinion) , mustard and a picked veggie and relish etc. But it's not something I can't just throw on myself at home if I made one the same way. I had lunch here today while heading to the aquarium. The Chicago dog was delicious, but at over $7 each, it felt a bit pricey. It was just a simple small hotdog, but it came with a nice bun and fresh veggies. I read a suggestion from someone else about getting a Costco dog and adding veggies yourself, which sounds like a good idea and would only cost about $2. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would probably stop by again if I'm in the area.
It was SO difficult to find parking downtown on a weekend I was just ABOUT to give up on the Chicago dog until I found out they had a stand right by the Planetarium. Honestly, I had LOW expectations but this very SIMPLE hotdog BLEW my mind. I can NEVER have a regular hotdog with ketchup anymore. Anyways, I defintely recommend y'all stop by and grab one or even two Chicago dogs while you're in town.
I tried a Chicago hotdog for the first time. The price felt a bit steep for its size, but the flavor was good—until I found a long hair in it. That definitely changed my experience. Had the Chicago style hotdog for $7. Service was quick, bread is fresh and the dog is full of flavor. Highly recommended for a quick bite.
