A mate and I arrived to a well light up venu with large glass doors wide open and at least 5 staff on and a couple of patrons sat at the outside seating consuming food. We were greater nicely by the lady at the counter, we asked if we could have couple chicken rolls and and chips and were laughed at by a couple of staff including the cook who added "Good luck!". we then found out that they closed in ten minutes. If you state your open until 9 your open until NINE, no reduced menu, IF OPEN YOUR MENU IS OPEN!!!! Disgusting to say the least, we were told we could have whole chicken and chips and that's it. Have driven past this place for years. Decided to take the wife here for a late dinner. Interesting restaurant; has a drive-thru and ample parking and inside is very large and open. As a customer its great to be able to clearly see the cooking area so clean and well-attended. Its great to also see the charcoal firepit where the chickens are cooked. The restaurant is essentially devoid of detail with almost zero furniture inside. The menu is reasonably limited however very easy to read on screens. Prices are slightly above average. I odered the half chicken and the wife had the King wrap. Both were ample servings. Very tasty all round. Service is satisfactory / friendly. I intend on returning...
Can't say enough about just how good Babba's King Rooster charcoal chicken and chips are. We drive for miles just for their chips - they are chunky, crispy, sprinkled lightly with the right amount of salt & addictive! You can see the chicken slowly cooking over the rotisserie and coals which gives them the beautiful flavour. They have drive-thru and phone ahead ordering, a great variety of salads and drinks to compliment your meal. All served quickly and efficiently. A tip...the medium chips feeds 4 of us.
Love the charcoal BBQ chicken and the chips - some of the best chips you will ever find.. BUT, as others have said, avoid the Peri Peri chicken.. it's a shocker. Just a butterflied chicken covered in a quite disgusting Peri Peri sauce.. Nando's it is not. But stick with the normal chicken and chips and you will be fine!

We usually love the chickens from King Rooster but tonight we went for something new, the peri peri chicken which was a huge disappointment. It was all covered in a sweet unpleasant sauce I couldn't eat it. I recommend the normal chicken, it's delicious but not the peri peri.
I was having friends over for dinner, fish wrapped in alcohol ready to put in oven! Power goes out. OMG... hot foot it down to King Rooster. Friends raved over the chicken! Saved my night! Have been back twice since as my daughter says it is way better than mine!
I luv these chickens. They are the biggest and most succulent I have ever had in Australia. Whenever I go to cairns I always schedule a trip to get a whole chicken, chips and coleslaw.
We got a medium chips and gravy as we had heard goods things - couldn't eat it all. Massive meal, great service. Drive Thru available.
