Kipps Lane Fish & Chips

We have been going to this little gem of a local restaurant, as opposed to a chain, since we lived in the apartments at the corner of Adelaide Street and Kipp's Lane in the early 1970's when we used to walk down for a weekend treat on Saturday nights. We now continue to use this as a regular drive in and take home after football games at Western. The staff there now knows us on a first name basis.A recent visit there reminded me that I really should give this great little spot the credit that it deserves. If you want fish and chips with that small corner store atmosphere, this is it.One of those "we're not big, but we're small" places.Has about 6 tables if you want to eat in.Most seems to be take out. Always heard about this place and decided to check it out. Should not do on Ash Wednesday. Place was hopping. Did not call ahead. We had lunch to day at Kipps Lane Fish and Chips. The restaurant is small but cozy, very clean. Seating for about 10. The owner and staff super friendly and gave us the history of the business. This was Her Father's business which started in 1972. They came to Our table numerous times to ensure Our Meal was Ok. The only draw back was they don't use fresh cut Fries but they were one of the better tasting frozen brands. The Fish Halibut, Haddock or Cod. We had Haddock which was lightly battered and fried to a golden brown. We were surprised at how small this place is, about 4 tables for dining in. Seems like it is mostly take out, but we ate in and were amazed at how busy the place was while we were there. Obviously there are regulars because the staff called a lot of the people picking up by their first names. Everything here is home made and very fresh. We ordered two halibut and fries and that included a dinner roll and coleslaw. Amazingly fresh, tasty and flavorable. We both agreed that it was probably one of the best fish and chips we have ever eaten. We'll be back, wish it was closer as we live in the west of London. Worth the trip~

A great place to order fish and chips whether you are eating in or taking the food out. Staff are friendly and know all or the regulars by name. There are only about six tables inside to eat in and many people call ahead and do take out especially on a Friday night. If you try their fish once you will be hooked!

For nearly 40 years I have been ordering take out, but finally dined in. The service was amazing as was the food. It is wonderful to see regular customers being called by name and children allowed one treat. The food is amazing! One of the best Fish
