I went to a Korean BBQ restaurant called Kobi Rimt with Gogi. It's a typical Korean BBQ place where you have to grill your own food. It's different from Daldongnae because they have two grills on each table: one electric grill for spicy chicken cheese and one gas grill for beef and pork ribs. Kobi is famous for their ddukboki (spicy rice cake) and their steak cuts are good. Each table requires 2 orders for the gas grill option, which costs $30 each. It was my wife and I first time eating this type of Korean food. $18.99 for one serving BUT the menu states that you have to buy minimum 2 servings so basically $40 dinner tip. We came on a Thursday and it was still packed even on the patio. So if you're going with a big group, make reservations. I'm not sure if other patrons normally order as much as we did, but if they do, then they need bigger...tables as it's just not enough space for everything you order PLUS all the freebie apps they give you with your meal. One of our friends suggested this Korean BBQ restaurant saying that they have a very unique menu. We tried the Spicy Chicken Cheese BBQ and it was really unique and special. The grill consisted of two circular rings. The spicy chicken is in the...inner circle, and the cheese is in the outer circle. Heated on the burner, while the chicken cooked, the cheese melted. Eating the chicken with the ooey gooey cheese was delicious. We also ordered the Thick Pork Belly. We grilled the pork belly (thick bacon) until it was crispy and you could feel the crunch in your mouth when you ate it. Never tasted pork belly (bacon) like this before. We’ve been to Kobi a few times for Korean bbq and like the food in general. However, we were disappointed with the service we received last night. The servers seemed annoyed from the moment we placed the order and gave us attitude throughout the meal....A server turned off the grill before the beef was fully cooked and gave us a look when we asked her to cook the beef longer. When we ordered more beef and asked for more side dishes, the server said we can only get one more set of side dishes. We enjoyed the food but think the service was unacceptable.
8 adult 4 children came to try the bbq, and ordered 2 spicy chicken, 2 spicy squid, 4 bibimbap, 1 glass noodle with bark, 1 pork soup and 2 rams. there were also steamed ice and 5 side dishes that can be refilled. the bbq came with cheese on the circumference of the round grill, and tasted like cheese on her pizza, only slightly carved on the floor, which was very good. overall interesting experience.
My dining experience at this restaurant was phenomenal. Nate was our server and he was incredibly gracious, especially considering we were a couple of East Coasters who had no clue what to order. His level of service was so impressive that I thought he must be the owner. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was lively, and we had a fantastic time. I highly recommend this place to others.
