My husband and I dined on a Monday evening (9/9) to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I suppose because it was a Monday, the dining room was not noisy. We were excited to experience NOBU for the first time as Matsuhisa was very good. Ratings: Ambiance and decor: 4/5 Dim lighting, romantic, beautiful lights showing through a red textured wall. The restaurant that ruined my daughter's sweet 16 birthday cake!!!!! I went to my daughter's 16th birthday party and they brought a special cake called a bouquet cake. After we finished eating, the waiter brought us a cake, but he had removed the decorations from the cake. The waiter put it back in its original position, but it wasn't the cake. This cake was custom-made, so it was impossible for the waiter to put it back in its original position. What's so great about an expensive restaurant that serves delicious food? Food was okay, drinks were great. However, we were extremely disturbed by the group of people sitting behind us and screaming from the top of their lungs, being very loud, inconsiderate and disturbing. I asked our host if she could have us sit somewhere else, and she completely dismissed our request and stated “they will be leaving soon”. Uh no they were there during our entire dining experience and completely ruined our birthday celebration!! Additionally, two of our orders were incorrect and when I brought it up, the response was “oh I thought you wanted these”!! Ummm pretty sure I clarified what I wanted. Servers are excellent, very attentive staff! The food was good but not great, it’s possible my expectations were too high. I thought this was a more upscale/fancy type of place then it actually is, I saw on the website they had somewhat of a dress code but I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt and backwards hat?? If you’re gonna let frat boys in then don’t charge me $200 for my meal lol. I’m glad I can say I experienced Nobu and I’ll probably at some point checkout the Malibu location but as far as the LA location, one time is good enough. They were supposed to bring the cold dishes first but they brought out the hot. They said the kitchen was backed up but the table next to us ordered the same thing 30 mins after us but they received it before us. Also we ordered but 10 minutes later they say they're out of all tacos. There's little things that bother me if I'm paying for a high value meal. The soy sauce pourer was chipped, the floors were sticky, the front hostess didn't acknowledge us entering or leaving and we had to wait over 25 mins after our reservation time for our table even though we were there early. I've been to other Nobus but others were definitely a better experience.
Amazing food. Those who love Nobu rarely discuss the goodness of the food. It is very important not to run into the hostesses at the door as happened to us. With the place half empty and with a reservation, they made us still wait 30 minutes without even a kind word or gesture. At Nobu they should know better than others, the work of those at the door is crucial to the success of an evening.
Delicious. Amazing experience. This is my first time dropping a whole PS5 on a dinner tab but it's absolutely worth it. My date has a fish allergy and our waitress was incredible giving us recommendations and accommodations to make sure we had a good experience. I highly recommend the Lobster Ceviche and the Oysters with Nobu Sauces. WILL COME AGAIN.
Don’t believe everything you see on Tik tok ? This place is tragic with staff to match… $1000 bill cost with no greeting and no goodbye. Food is very basic, luke warm bland. Rushed experience as staff wanted to get home. Nicest staff member was the valet. So many nice places to go, this isn’t one of them. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Great food but sadly the service was bad. Our server was great but she was so busy we asked for a drink menu and it took 35 minutes to get it. It was for our friends birthday so it was really disappointing to spend $700 for an experience that was frankly worse than Olive Garden.
