Many years ago we used to be regulars here, and then for some reason lost to me now, our habits changed. So it was good to come back here again. The café serves the usual breakfasts, lunches (including several main courses – with chips!), and morning and afternoon in-betweens. For our afternoon cuppa, there is a moderate range of cakes on display, the tea and coffee is served promptly and with a smile, interrupting our magazine reading! But probably the real strength of the café is the facility itself. There is ample shared parking out the back. There are large windows on three sides, with cheerful sunlight streaming in from the west. I remember the corner fireplace blazing away on cold wint...
This is the third time I have been here and I have enjoyed the experience each time. I just love the little courtyard out the front of this cafe with the greenery and the fountain. We chose to eat inside, where there are tables and booths, because it was a rather warm day. My mother and her friend had chicken and avocado baguettes which they both enjoyed and I had the small serve of wedges with sweet chilli sauce and sour cream. I love wedges but usually get served way to many for one person so the size of this serve was perfect. There is plenty to choose from on the menu and in the winter they serve soup. We went to Stirling on our way to the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens and had planned to eat at the Hotel. Unfortunately everyone got there before us and so we wandered around looking for a place to eat. A local kindly pointed us in the direction of the Konditorei. It is not large or fancy looking but it had a homely feel about it. The menu is not extensive but the food was nice and well cooked, with a home - cooked feel about it, but we did feel the prices were a little on the expensive side for what it was. The service was friendly, although we had a bit of a wait as it was quite busy. Overall we quite enjoyed our visit to this little hidden gem.
We sought a quick lunch and coffee, I asked for some water and glasses. After 25 minutes (no table water yet) I enquired to be told it 'would be soon, they were very busy' (it didn't seem so). We did notice others there also needed to ask. At 40 minutes, several others ordering after us had been served, so I enquired yet again.. 'just 2-3 minutes now'. So 45 minutes after ordering, first our coffees then later our food arrived. Though the eventual food was reasonable and the staff pleasant, you're better off somewhere more capable of timely service as they were hopeless. The water never did materialise. Every Friday my friend and I drop in for coffee and I love the fact that the girl behind the counter remembers our order and welcomes us with her cheery smile. I have been visiting this place for well over 20 years and still enjoy it. They have a lovely potbelly stove in the corner for those chilly Stirling days as well as outside setting which is great for people and their dogs. The décor is slightly out of date but who cares when you are getting great service and good food.
We love the Kondi - just wish it was open longer hours like it used to be in the OLD OLD days :-)The Konditorei has had a few owners over the years but the menu has remained much the same and why not - it's a great menu. In winter it gets VERY busy and is sometimes hard to get a seat - in summer you can always sit out in the courtyard which we do especially because we often have a dog or two with us.Nice food, good prices and friendly staff.
Our trip to Stirling for Devonshire Tea was very disappointing. The tea was very nice served in silk teabags, the scone was good, but the jam was a tiny single serve packet and the cream was the spray on variety. No-one appreciates spray on cream these days. It's not that hard to provide 'real' cream surely!
There is always something special to look out for on the blackboard. The soups and salads are made fresh in house and taste truly fresh. The Chicken Schnitzel & salad is so crispy and well complemented by the fresh garden salad you want it again! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
There was a new owner of konditori and it had improved a lot you should go there and new employees were great and the coffe was hot not like outher coffe places
