Custard is the best thing about Kopps.. Things that are true at Kopps. 1. The custard, malts, sundaes rock. They are not inexpensive, custard is made with real ingredients so is not cheap to produce. 2. The burgers, chicken sandwiches are cooked to order, are quite large and will be good, but not your favorite burger or chicken sandwich. The french fries/onion rings are very average, frozen variety. 3. You will stand in line, wait for food to be cooked and either eat your food at home, in the car, standing at a little table or sitting on a spartan bench with your food on your lap. 4. Horrible service, horrible food.. Came here yesterday with my friend after the Packer game. Not very busy, tons of staff. I bought me and my husband sundaes, and she bought two ice cream cones and a sundae. After watching two girls talk behind the counter for five minutes, one finally went to make my sundaes. When I got them they were already melted, and by the time her sundae came up mine were already complete liquid and completely inedible. No one was wearing gloves while preparing food, and we waited over fifteen minutes to get ice cream we couldn't even eat. And fifteen bucks for two sundaes is ridiculous. I'll never go back.
Disappointing. I know as a long time resident of MKE I'm supposed to adore this place no matter what they do. But in the last couple years all I've gotten is horribly undercooked and so-greasy-they're-slimy burgers. I can't even finish one burger because they're so awful. The fries are the skinny kind that just become grease delivery systems you can't even taste the potato I'll continue to have Kopp's custard. But they'll no more get my money for grill items. It makes me wonder if I liked them when I was a kid because the burgers treated good or because it was such a rare treat. Just go for dessert, folks!
I mentioned a few posts before how milwaukee is the frozen Custard capital of the world. as many Custard stands were on the agenda as possible. kopp’s frozen custard is a great name in the frozen Custard world. they have a limited number of Custard options, but they have a daily one. on this day it was red celestial. it was particularly creamy and came with a beautiful triangular conical piece. it was also very refreshing, which was nice after eating a butterburger. very tasty. it's been a long time since I was in this place, but I remember eating as it was yesterday, and the earthensonne was so much that we took it back to our place and everyone shared it for dessert in this night. the burgers are great and they fill them well. the best of this place was the amount and size of the portions that are only more than what an average 200 lbs person can handle. I'd like to go back there if I visit milwaukee next time.
