Today, my husband and I visited Kra Z Kai's BBQ, and we were pleasantly surprised by how fresh and delicious the food was! Everything we tried tasted fantastic. I ordered the chicken, and it was incredible—so juicy! The sauce that accompanies the chicken is also delightful and complements it perfectly. My husband opted for the combo plate, which included chicken, beef, a rib (not sure if it was pork or beef), and a sausage link. The restaurant is situated inside Rodeo X, and there's plenty of spacious parking available. This was my first experience with Laotian cuisine, and I'm really glad I chose to try it here. I ordered a mixed combo plate and substituted fried rice, enjoying my meal at the bar inside the venue. Compared to Thai food, Laotian dishes seem to have a slightly sweeter flavor, but all the meats were absolutely delicious. The sausage was flavorful and juicy, reminiscent of the fillings you'd find in a dumpling. The barbecue chicken and ribs were also excellent, with the meat falling right off the bones. The portion was quite large, so I ended up taking some home as leftovers.
I ordered the combo plate, which included short ribs, chicken, sausage, and a pork rib, served with rice and a side salad. The price was very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. I haven’t encountered many Laotian restaurants, and even the few I know don't compare in terms of authenticity and flavor to this place. The staff was incredibly helpful and suggested some side sauces that I thoroughly enjoyed. Not only did the meal satisfy my craving, but it also delighted my taste buds. I left with a smile and will definitely be returning—I’ve got to try the papaya salad, and I have no doubt it will be excellent!
We've never had Lao food, but it's Asian food, so I know it'll be close to what we know. Since we've been here a few times since they opened, we have tried a few things in their menu. What stood out for me is the sausage and with the sticky rice. I also love their sauces. It's inside Rodeo X, in the New Haven Marketplace plaza. The place is fast food style with Rodeo X seems to be the main scene(mostly for alcohol) the place can be packed and loud on weeknights with music and almost a party scene. **Update (10-16-22):** I went back for a free chicken plate I found through Messenger. The cashier helped me navigate the process, and it was quick and easy. I really enjoyed the crispy and flavorful chicken thigh skins! It would be nice if they offered a small salad as a substitute for the rice. One of the workers called my name rather loudly, even though I was only about ten feet away—made me laugh! Overall, I had a much better experience this time and have upgraded my rating to 4 stars.
This is the best Laotian BBQ chicken around! They have a spot in the corner of the New Haven food court, so I think not many people are aware of it. However, their BBQ is outstanding. My favorites are the chicken and pork ribs. Food: 5/5. Service: 5/5. Atmosphere: 5/5. I highly recommend trying the Lao BBQ Mix Plate and the BBQ Pork Ribs!
Situated in Rodeo X, this restaurant offers plenty of parking. It's a great place to get acquainted with Lao cuisine. The food is delicious, the service is attentive, and the prices are reasonable. While all meals are packed to-go, they provide open seating for diners. Don’t forget to leave a helpful rating!

As for the atmosphere, it tends to be busy, especially on weekends when I usually visit. Regarding the food, everything I’ve tried has been quite good, and I’ve been coming here since their grand opening.
