Always coming here for curry egg rice takitori platter, which is ok for it’s price tried Sashimi once before not fresh My boyfriend and I both had curry egg rice, one with beef, one with mushroom. His beef one is fine, while the curry rice of my mushroom one was way too SWEET SALTY, quite watery as well, even with rice. So I showed to one of the waitresses that the color of my curry sauce is darker not quite obvious on photo , and the rice is too salty to eat. I understand sometimes it happens to small restaurants when it’s busy, so all I asked was just a separate bowl of rice....

I have come to this restaurant twice, both with poor experiences. I didn't write a review the first time as I just let it go and thought it was a one off but after today I am not keen to return.
First of all, on both occasions the waitress staff were not very friendly. On arrival no menus were given to us. For drinks I ordered a beer (in a can) which required no preparation but for some reason I didn't get it served to me until 15-20mins later when the main meal arrived. Mind you, it wasn't a very busy night. The food was not impressive either. It was bland, and cold when it came out (ordered katsu set). ????

With my japanese background, I can confirm that the food and drinks served there are quite authentic and of high quality.
The Japanese chef, nami san is doing an amazing work.
We love the drinks there, very authentic modern jap drinks :)
And big hats off to the very professional yet friendly and helpful wait staff, Joan! She brings such a comfortable and friendly atmosphere to the store

I really love the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant but the food is quite mediocre for its pricing. I recently had the aburi salmon don and chicken katsu don. I've had chicken katsu don at a lot of different Japanese restaurants and KU-O's was kind of disappointing, it was quite dry and the egg was just a fried egg instead of the usual scrambled/fried egg. The aburi salmon was quite yummy (I love aburi salmon) but I quickly got tired of the flavour
Very disappointing lately seems to be going down hill with both food quality and service, order Katsu curry and it came over cooked slivers of old looking chicken rock hard. And almost all rice to make up for the tiny amount of chicken when the how’s the crumbs on the chicken is thicker then the chicken in it…. And 50minit wait time yet there’s seats free for use as we wait out side in the cold.
ate here from peak times around 2pm, and absolutely loved it. the food was delicious and the service was nice. beautiful and warm interieur! the huhn don was amazing, the crust was so light and fluffy and juicy inside! highly recommended.

this place is really amazing, I can't blame it at all! eating is very expensive, the staff is friendly and it is delicious. it can have a lot to do so that they have to wait a bit if they have not booked!
Our favourite Japanese restaurant in Brisbane! Staff are always helpful and prompt. Food is always delicious. I highly recommend the rice and udon dishes. Couldn't recommend Ku-O enough!
