Kuélap Cocina Peruana

Didn't feel like going out last night so we decided on one of the Medellin Gourmet domicilio menus. We had been to Kuelap before and the food had been pretty good, The food that arrived at our house was so bad it was mostly inedible. The causa de pollo was nothing more than a scoop of mashed potatoes dumped in a plastic cup and topped by a spoonful of mayo and a few microscopic shards of chicken. No taste or color of aji amarillo. It went in the trash. The rest was equally terrible. The chaufa was chewy and tastless, the saltado was overcooked as was the pollo al wok and even the white rice was hard and tasted old. poor quality experience. We had the Medellin gourmet meal, chicken appetitzer and lomo saltado and seafood chaufa. The appetizer was tiny, was some shreds of chicken on a cold old mashed potato with mayonnaise. The seafood chaufa had no shrimp, tiny pieces of meat, and no flavor. The lomo saltado was not authentic and had no flavor--barely any fries which is weird as it is the cheapest part. The dessert was a lazy half scoop of cheap vanilla ice cream next to a gas station flavorless tiny muffin--no sauce or anything--it was not a chocolate volcano cake. Food is excellent in quality and for being outside of Perú: Very good. I tried different items in the menu and although it wasn’t Peruvian taste, I did find it very tasteful and close to the original flavor; the only thing I didn’t try was the Cebiche, as I asked if they use “Ají Limo” and they said no. You can’t have Peruvian Cebiche without Ají Limo, that’s why Perú had won years in a row best culinary destination and not Mexico It was my first time in Medellin and I hope to come back very soon, as people is extremely friendly and if you stay at El Poblado, you will be safe at all times. I definitely recommend Kuélap restaurant!

I went into this kuelap restaurant and they were unfriendly and unaccommodating. they did not change the seafood I wanted, what was ridiculous was the only Peruvian restaurant that does not do this change. the waiter pointed out and said that the type in. the table next to me was the Peruvian owner and that he says no! the arroz chaufa was extremely salty and the ceviche de pescado and ceviche mixto. I spoke to the administrator and suggested how to manage the soy sauce. that was a terror attack against health and likes. pitiful. the worst part. was that the administrator says she could only give a discount for this terrible attack.

Located in the heart of El Poblado, this small Peruvian kitchen has all the staples plus a host of seafood dishes. There’s a small beer and wine selection but several cocktails including Pisco Sours. Reservations are recommended due to the size. Excellent service!

beautiful restaurant outdoor with authentic Peruvian food. ceviche is fresh and full of taste. seafood mixto was excellent. made with a lot of garnel, calamari and fish in a delicious sauce. service was also very good
