On a breezy cool sunny Sunday, we headed west out of Uzes to this small restaurant that we had heard of, but never tried. We had reserved (always a good idea on a Sunday) and we’re shown a table on the spacious patio with sails protecting us from the noonday sun. A tasty amuse bouche of humisband thin bread crisps arrived . We opted for the menu at 34€ and I had a delicious fleur de courgette stuffed with something delightful and accompanied by a small slice of warm fois gras. Located in the medieval village of Garrigues, La Bergerie is worth a visit either for lunch or dinner. A comprehensive menu caters for all tastes and Navine, the chef will go out of his way to accommodate you He is originally from Mauritius and some of the dishes carry that influence. Currently is is growing an extensively range of tomatoes and other veg that are picked fresh for the plate. We have seen the restaurant grow and develop over the past five years and now has a wide clientele who are prepared to travel some distance to taste his fayre.
We had dinner here having found it on Trip Advisor and returned the following day for lunch! The food was so fresh and perfectly cooked. The Tandoori Gambas and John Dory were our favourites. Staff were friendly and hard working. We had some delicious local wine and enjoyed the tiramisu and lemon meringue. Feels a bit like a farm restaurant, set amongst vines. Kids menu available.
It is always a pleasure to come back to taste the cuisine of the Bergerie. Copious and colourful dishes accompanied by a quality service. Exceptional products and generously served portions. I strongly recommend.
Finally an address where one feels well, warm, competent and listening staff, delicious dishes, from the local and the local, the return to the sources of knowledge to live and know how to eat.
Thanks to the chief and his team. For the anniversary of the lady we spent a pleasant evening from the entrance to the perfect dessert with a good taste wine card everything was perfect
