I am always reluctant to order pasta away from an Italian restaurant but really fancied some this lunchtime. We regularly visit this place (affectionately known to us locals as the Chicken Shack) as it is only minutes walk from home and has ample room...for my husbands wheelchair, but this is the first time I have tried the pasta that is advertised as homemade and freshly made daily. I ordered the pasta of the day with Marinera sauce and it was absolutely superb. A rich, creamy sauce full of large and small prawns, squid, large and small clams, baby octopus and very large mussels. My husband had cans of diet coke plus two coffees whilst I had two glasses of very drinkable rose wine plus two...
just a few kilometers from torrox costa on the road to nerja is this street restaurant la cabana del canario. it was a nice coffee break on our jogging route for us. many, too often we have read the menu. but. Now it is finally in one of the last days of the februar passes our pastas, one with laughs, the other with mariscos, where great price. Tasty portions assured us again that the key is kitchen, not looks like the outside side. And the other thing is to keep on eye where the local sitting / eating. we highly recommend la cabana del canario.
A somewhat ramshackle, but very welcoming bar situated on the main coast road just across from the beach at El Penoncillo (extreme Nerja end of Torrox Costa) so some traffic noise is inevitable. Very well priced tapas and main meals the half roast chicken...served with either chips or Canarian spicy potatoes is unbeatable at just euro and the spit of grilled sardines at just euro is another firm favourite. Good steaks too.
This Month a special menu of game including wild boar venison and duck cooked in a traditional style all home cooked I had a casserole which was nice.Just speak to Pepe the owner or Jessi the waiter they understand English and are very helpful when...you decide what to have. Very friendly welcome and a mixture of locals and tourists.

Great for a casual lunch, quite rough ready but food is great. We had the chicken and potatoes another dish which consisted of potato (pobre style), chorizo, eggs and I cant remember what else, both were good and very reasonable. Pizza looked good...too.
Good food, reasonable prices, nice location (opposite the beach but across the main road from the sea). Only objection is that the owners allow smoking inside which is illegal here in Spain.

do not judge a book of his cover. the workers have so welcome to us every time and great eating to boot from the bbq to pasta, absolutely beautiful.
