We had a very nice experiance having Lunch at La Cantine. Do not confuse the name however with La Cantina in Orange. There are two different places. La Cantine is in the middle of the Commercial shopping center in Orange, located out next to the exit off of the tollway. It is very convenient to shop when one is staying a distance from Orange, but shopping in Orange. The shopping center is quite new, and there is a lot of parking. We stopped here twice for late morning coffee and croissant while in the area. The first time was OK. On the second visit we sat at one of the outside tables. After a while the waiter came and requested that we move to a different set table a few yards away. Apparently the first table was reserved for lunch diners, although it was identical to the second table and there was nobody there to have lunch. This seemed to make no sense as there were around 40 empty tables. The same thing happened to the next customers to arrive. Lets face it, this is a restaurant in a commercial zone so expectations should not be high. That said,we were pleasantly surprised with both decor and welcome which was friendly and efficient. That said food was just not great with a questionable level of expertise in the kitchen. Fish was overcooked and came with a sauce that obviously came from a can, burger was just bof and both came with dark brown greasy fries. We were asked if everything was ok and i mentioned the fries were either reheated or oil needed changing and was told that it was the type of potatoes ! All in all just not great food. Would I return ? Nope.
The welcome is good. You have to book because a lot of people. The quality of the dishes, I took a caesar salad isn't good for me. I didn't like it. The plates are copyy for the price you have for your money because this is really a canteen. You must not expect quality and taste. I'll never go back. Again not for me it's a matter of taste

A delicious and hearty cuisine. I'm pulling a star because it's been twice that my escalope is just getting warm, it's a shame. The boss and the waiters are very nice. I recommend!
Excellent rapport qualité -prix. Une repas en famille le temps d’une pause sur le trajet des vacances. Belles pièces de viandes pour les amateurs !
Very good food. No dish of the day for lunch in the week. Ordering time a little longer but fast meal service. Very friendly staff

Service and very pleasant kitchen. Very noisy rooms. Enough on the terrace!
