What a great surprise and culinary pleasure this little corner of paradise on the banks of the Loire. The Captainry is full of strengths to make us lunch next to this wooden hut: a perfect location, a very warm atmosphere thanks to the reception and animation of the officials, and a simple but tasty card. Vegetarian salad and tartines were flown in record time. An address that makes a lot of happy and whose success compels to book well in advance.
This was highly recommended by our hosts, who were local to Meung sur Loire. My wife and I tried it out with our teenage son. It was informal and open air dining on the banks of the Loire. It really couldn’t have been any better. Food, service and atmosphere were all perfect. It was necessary to book a table, which we did that morning. Thankfully the owner spoke English, helpful as my GCSE level French from 30 years ago was a bit rusty!

Went here for a relaxing drink this evening the English speaking french lady was so rude when we politely asked for a wine and beer don’t why but she aggressively refused us ! We would have happily sat on the grass if she wanted the tables for food Obviously she earns too much ! Spoilt our evening don’t go here!
What an extraordinary place. Set amongst rows of trees on a beautiful bank of the Loire, a special couple serve lovely food and drinks. Their kitchen and bar is a simple wooden hut. How do such wonders emerge from such a small space? Ours is not to ask. Just go. Truly special.
Casual place, under the trees, by the river, organic independent soft drinks, something ha but different to the usual. Also what seemed to be an independent beer too. Relaxing and we happened to be there during a festival so had music as well as lively views of the Loire.
A very nice discovery that this Captainry on the banks of the Loire: Claire and Denis are adorable and their little dishes are in their image, generous! The ideal guinguette for a drink, a lunch or dinner with an incredible view of the Loire!

Sadly the hospitality was distinctly lacking, in fact plain rude, especially when recounting his treatment of my wife and me to another guest(never assume that the English can’t speak French)!
