We found the food and service, provided by Chelsea J as noted on the receipt, to be very good. However, due to COVID-19 precautions, we were seated outside on the far side of the dining area. Unfortunately, US 190 was just a few feet away, and it was exceedingly noisy. As the sun began to set, it shone directly into my eyes, making it uncomfortable to enjoy our meal. The wind also made it difficult, as napkins and sweetener packets kept blowing around. Overall, it was quite an unpleasant experience instead of a nice dining outing. Update on 11/03/23: We visited for dinner and had a lovely experience. Our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Mexican tacos, which were excellent, and the carne asada plate was equally impressive—the meat was tender and juicy, with generous portions, and the side dishes were delicious. Our son enjoyed the cheese quesadilla and finished the entire plate, complemented by crispy, golden fries. The $5 margarita was a fantastic deal! This is our favorite Mexican restaurant on the Northshore. We visit almost every week for their $2 Taco Tuesday. While there can be a wait during peak hours, they turnover tables quickly, making it worth it for the delicious food. They offer free chips and salsa, and the staff is excellent at keeping your drinks refilled. I'm quite particular about my margaritas and queso, and La Carreta always delivers perfectly. The atmosphere is lively, and the extensive menu has reasonable prices across the board. What’s not to love?
Be cautious—there appears to be some microbial growth in the restaurant. We usually choose to sit outside because of the mold, but this time we decided to try sitting indoors since they had the large garage door open, allowing for good ventilation. However, after spending about 20-30 minutes inside, I began to feel a bit foggy. We left shortly after that. Unfortunately, the food didn't meet our expectations this time, and we were left feeling less than impressed.

As someone from the Pacific Coast of Mexico, I have a deep love for seafood. While Louisiana is home to some fantastic seafood restaurants, I often find myself craving traditional Mexican dishes. Fortunately, there are Mexican restaurants in Louisiana, and La Carreta is the best of them all! Their ceviche, diablo shrimp, and margaritas are a must-try! The staff and atmosphere are always so welcoming, making me feel right at home. Thank you for that!
I was craving authentic Mexican food when I came across this restaurant. The service was excellent, and the staff was incredibly friendly. There's even outdoor seating available. I ordered the Steak Egg dish, which was fantastic and I highly recommend it. However, my friend said the Birria tacos weren't as good.
The staff was generally not very friendly, with the exception of the waitress, who was pleasant and did a great job. However, the hostess was a different matter. It seemed like we were interrupting her conversation with another employee.
We visited this restaurant on a Tuesday evening and sampled a variety of dishes with our guests. The food was well-prepared and the service was generally good, though I did experience some difficulty in getting my second beer.

Great restaurant with a wide variety of vegetarian options. We enjoyed live music being set up as we were leaving. The waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable.
The food was fantastic, and the fajitas were absolutely delicious! The chips and salsa were also very fresh. I will definitely return when I'm in town!
