Chile Relleno de Tamal de Huitlacoche This was the special tonight at La Casita Mexicana It was a huge roasted Pasilla Chile. In the middle there was a clogging of a tampale with splinter cheese in the middle. The huitlacoche (some call it Mexican truffles) was blown into the mascara with whole kernels of Mexican maize. The Chile emptied the tamale and gave him a delicious taste. It rests in a light jitomate sauce. Above the top was a spoon of Mexican crema and a thin slice of red onion. I was pleasantly surprised by the intricate, fresh, and delicate flavors of the dishes, which still felt comforting and familiar. Normally, I steer clear of Mexican food when I'm aiming for a healthy diet, but the offerings here were both fresh and nutritious. I quickly fell in love with the nutty undertones of the sauces and moles, which reminded me of my grandmother's Korean home cooking. The salsas, infused with fragrant herbs and vegetables, feature vibrant aromas and tastes that truly delight the palate.
Having sampled many dishes at La Casita Mexicana, I can confidently say there is something for everyone here.
La Casita Mexicana is my #1 spot when it comes to Mexican food. All of the dishes that I've enjoyed from enchiladas, meats and not to mention drinks and deserts which are full of everlasting taste. I always celebrate my anniversarys and birthdays here. The inside and patio eating areas are filled with cool Mexican art pieces and are both great areas to dine in. This Mexican restaurant in L.A. is outstanding. I’m especially fond of their mole; it’s fresh and boasts a delightful nutty flavor. The rest of the food is quite good as well. I tried the three moles with fried chicken and tasted a variety of other dishes; they were satisfactory. However, you absolutely must save room for dessert—it’s phenomenal! We enjoyed the crushed guavas and churros filled with dulce de leche, which were simply incredible. Even the coffee had a hint of cinnamon. I can’t wait to return!
First time there....The food was really good... service was awesome!!! my 7 year old daughter changed her mind after ordering the waiter was so accommodating brought her new order right away ... we will be back when we’re in town
Loved the atmosphere, great service! Delicious drinks, food had great taste although my chilaquiles could have been a bit more soft in my opinion. Overall it was great will definitely go back again!
