Listing on tripadvisor said it did Mexican and Spanish food. Menu had no Mexican food on it, all set menus. Food was good we had 4 starters, main course and a desert. Hubby ordered a bottle of wine, was not shown it before it was...opened, nor given a little to taste. You would expect this as the waiter was giving the impression it was a high class place. When hubby read bottle on label it wasn't the wine he had ordered. Not impressed. Asked for a large bottle of water, told only did small ones by waiter. Then when asked waitress, who was very helpful and welcoming, for another was asked if I wanted large bottle. Maybe it's was because we don't speak fluent Spanish, but if you don't want our...
The Cocina del Convento is a bit out of the way, it took us a while to stumble upon it, though once you know it's there, it is easy to get to and find. It has a relatively small dining room and reasonable outside eating...space once it gets warmer. The menu is not enormous, with a couple of set price menus and a few tapas, but what there is, is well worth trying. What's more it is good value and the waiter was extremely friendly.
... in the back streets of Cehegin la Cocino del Convento is a little gem! The restaurant is small so booking is advisable. The presentation is exquisite and dishes are introduced to the table as works of art! I would describe the food as up...market taster dishes and you decide when to finish! The staff, although only speaking Spanish, are very friendly and the owner always has time to come to your table for a chat!
they win it a try, how enjoyed eating here under previous regime. but it was disappointing. the menu was different, spanish influenced I think, but not sure what country / region and not according to our taste, black mayo? no thanks. service was good and the place got. customers who seemed to enjoy what they had, but unfortunately not for us.

we first tested it for a menu and were not disappointed so that with friends returned for a tasting menu. excellent value and well maintained by leo. large selection of fish and meat and desserts to all taste directions including the selection of fresh...fruit also the wine selection was good and included juan gil always a favorit
from the outside this restaurant looks like any other bar/café, but within there is an area where serious food is served. we chose the degustacion menu with a selection of four first courses and a selection of two second courses. and. high-quality eating with included 17euros. service was good and friendly.
