La Credence has been a favourite for many years. The hosts are exceedingly welcoming despite my poor French.The rooms are decked with memorabilia of farming and skiing...plus Monsieur judo trophies.But it is dominated by the huge open fire which is used for the best and most traditional raclette you will find anywhere! There is a menu...but why bother when the raclette and the brasserade are so delicious every time? Our generally preferred dessert is the Colonel which is simply sorbet generously covered in vodka!But this is not all this unique place has to offer...Monsieur will invite you into the cow byre. We have been going to this beautiful and very typical restaurant for several years. It is a place known by locals; but, seldom discovered by even those who live in Chamonix. Fondue, raclette, pierrade, served in traditional style. Raclette cooked over an open fire in a traditional way, without any pretense, just a true Savoyard faire. Jean Michel and his lovely daughter are the real thing and make you feel like welcome guests!This is a must...you will be so happy you visited!
