The Dufours run this hotel with a warm sympathy; I was booked too late, by my daughter who lives and works in France, and did not finish many minutes before the service for dinner. My apologies were brushed aside and an excellent meal appeared on a week night. The other diners seemed to be or enjoyed their meals alike. Breakfast was just as good value BUT it was the kindness and interest that wrote me this review; a book was loaned to read overnight. This is an example of the best local authentic hostel in France of old fashion. I welcome the fact that it has traveled in France over the last 25 years.
I went here alone while I was doing business in Sézanne. You had a special lobster menu I took. It was a plentiful meal, full of rich flavors. The salad starter was with grapefruit and a bit too strong, but the main course was indeed very good. I finished with a sorbet and enjoyed a glass house white wine. The decor is a bit tired, but the owners were very polite, and I had a very pleasant evening. The price was very reasonable. It is not a sharp kitchen, but it is an excellent value for money.
Oldish style hotel and restaurant. Luminous dining room with classical lay out. Had a nice full menu meal at a reasonable price/value rate. I think the lady owner was our waitress and she was not overly nice, friendly or professional. When travelling in France, bear in mind times for meals are not too long. Lunch between noon and 1:30, dinner between 7:30 and 9:30, except maybe big cities like Paris.
I just spent some wonderful days there. I couldn't harm the hospitality, rooms and food. I stayed there with friends traveling from all over Europe. We all enjoyed the hotel and the surroundings, we were so well looked after so that our stay unforgettable. We will return next year.
