I was recently in Artesia, and we ate dinner one evening at La Herradura (LH). LH is a restaurant that is literally on the other side of the tracks in a poor part of Artesia; however, do not let that deter you! The food is great, and the price is superb, especially compared to the price of New Mexican food in a larger city. I had a combination plate that included a taco, a rolled enchilada, and a chile relleno; with that, beans and rice were included. The cost? $10.50. The taste was super! I have eaten there before, and I've greatly enjoyed everything I've eaten there. Note: On Sundays after church, it's my understanding that the place is packed with locals. Note 2: I grew up about 3 blocks...
My husband and I dined here for the first time yesterday, and we were truly impressed and satisfied with our meals! I forgot to take a picture of my food, but I had a delicious Barbacoa Torta, and my husband enjoyed the Super Burrito, which was a whole foot long! That's right, a whole foot long! He managed to eat almost all of it, just leaving a bite. As for the restaurant itself, it was clean and comfortable, and the staff was fantastic! The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. We also started with the Green Chile Queso Blanco, served with chips, and it was simply delicious! We will definitely return as customers, especially since we are finishing our time in Artesia tonight.
By far the best Mexican restaurant in New Mexico the burrito is to die for the biggest I've ever seen and full of all the right stuff you got to definitely check it out if you ever get here right off the 285 south near the 82 intersection...... Did I mention it was a foot long

Service is awful. All waitresses are very rude. Would be a great place if the service was decent. Waited for over ten minutes and wasn’t even asked about drinks.
