We came to Maison Vari because the night before we had one of their wines in a great restaurant in Bergerac and we liked it so much, we thought it would be a great idea to visit La Maison Vari, learn a bit more about their wines and of course buy a few bottles. It was lunch time when we got there and La Maison Vari serves food in their beautiful garden on small tables. There were two employees inside the building. The friendly male employee asked us if we wanted to have lunch and sent us outside. There, to our suprise, the female employee looked quite unpleased with our arrival and told us on rather frank words that it would not be possible to serve us food as "they were so busy". Maison Vari is a small restaurant that offer one hot meal and an assortment of cold plates and salads as options for dining. It is a seasonal restaurant ( much to our disappointment as expats who live here! ) and the location is superb, if possible eat in the garden. The owners both speak very good English and are super friendly. Great value for money and sits in the heart of the pretty village of Monbazillac.
The restaurant is run by a young team which gives it real ambiance. Owned by a vineyard all the wines served are theirs. They have a very good rose,red and white. We had the rose with our lunch and bought three bottles of each before we left. The food is very innovative as they offer plates of meat, cheese or meat, all of which are very reasonably priced (10 Euros). One plate is enough for 2.
Got a bit lost finding our accommodation, located close to the chateau, inevitably to have thousands of people crossing their doorstep, the owner and her son took time to find lodging and a good restaurant for us! Thank you once again! Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Good products and wines (bios) of quality, this charming place with its peaceful garden in the heart of the vineyard of Monbazillac is a must! Beautiful programming for concerts and events from Friday night to season.
