La Matelote - Tisch resevieren

Having noted the often quite divergent opinions of various reviewers I was interested to see what La Matelote was offering. My view for what it is worth aligns very closely to the previous reviewer. I do not consider this to be fine dining in the Michelin sense of the word. It is a good restaurant possibly relying too much on its past but lacking in any passion for the food or the dining experience it is offering. Why would you poach skate wings when the very act of poaching has a detrimental effect on the texture of the fish. Far better grilled. We went thunking we would have an exceptional culinary experience, given that the place had a michelin star. We were disappointed with the unrefined cuisine we were served. The amuses and bread were not very tasty. The first course was too big, and quite bland. The ‘aile de raie’ was huge, too buttery and the winter vegetables did not match well with the dish. Desert again unrefined. All in all a disappointing experience.

A very good menu, dish and dessert at 35€ at noon. We had a very good lunch and there were many: 7 adults, 4 children and a baby. A room was privatized for us, which allowed us to be a little isolated without disturbing other customers, it was cool. Ideal for many families. Very large restaurant, several lounges compose it with a burning atmosphere, beautiful decoration. High-end staff and adventurous service. We had a great time, from the reception, well being at the evening meal, everything was perfect. I emphasize the professionalism and attention of staff. A real happiness! The flavor menu of the sea is cordial and divine. Bravo Mr. Lestienne and the team. In addition, if not the price compared to the benefits. Good continuation! 17/12/2016

We had a perfect dinner at this (new) place. It was more than a substitute for the place where we wanted to go first. The neighboring restaurant was nearby. Happy to see La Matelote. Perfect service and excellent food. We can recommend this professional place for a special dinner session 100%.
