We went here a couple of weeks ago with some friend who had invited us along to an Italian evening. I must say that we have been here for a fantastic Sunday lunch a year or so ago and came away really impressed with the food. We've also stopped in here for excellent cakes and coffee. So we were very surprised to come away from this Italian evening so disappointed. The starters were served in dried out filo pastry, with a sickly creamy sauce (from a jar, perhaps? . The lasagne was just like a microwaveable shop bought one, with unidentifiable meat in it sorry for being so honest.. We went here with friends for an Indian meal evening, which was benefitting a local animal charity. It was 20€ a head, with some of that presumably going to the charity and some to the restaurant. The starters were not bad, but tasted and looked shop bought. The main courses were terrible. There was no flavour or taste to them. The chicken dish was watery and hardly any chicken. The meat dish was tough and tasteless and was just like a stew, not a curry. The service was terribly slow, so we didn't stay long, but all felt pressurised into giving more money in addition to what we had paid for the meal, which isn't fair. What an amazing wee restaurant out in the middle of nowhere. That just made for the perfect setting. The staff were friendly and attentive, even the customers were friendly and welcoming too. What could be nicer than that ?? Everybody just made us feel so welcome. Obviously very well appreciated by the locals. Terry and I popped in for breakfast and we were definitely not disappointed. Even more important when you consider that Terry is diabetic and has to cope with a very restrictive diet. Pas de problem pour La Petite Pause !! Terry was particularly thrilled to get cream for her coffee. Upgraded to 5* because Terry was also thrilled by the spotless toilet !!
This is a lovely clean restaurant.....with lovely staff and owners....serving the most delicious food. We had a delicious home cooked filo basket.....with creamy garlic infused mushrooms.....followed by a traditional home-cooked lasagne...made with ethically produce beef.....served with a garden fresh green salad....followed by a sumptuous tiramisu with lashings of amaretto laced cream.....all incredibly presented.....and best of all, it was all in aid of a fabulous local animal charity.
