We ate outside the restaurant, savoring the evening in Sarlat and the fact that everyone seated near us was chatting with each other. Definitely a local 's sort of place. Then a man approached whose voice was slurred and he wobbled as he walked. He asked how to get to the gare the train station. A man at the next table the woman at his table had been holding court with the other locals got up, put his arm under the wobbling man 's elbow, and led him away. It was a completely gentle gesture. The tone of the chatter at the restaurant dropped for half a minute, then all was the same. The helper man returned about 15 minutes later. I 'm describing a restaurant experience which really touched me...
Actually I delete my previous review which was written under anger ! We went there , and were shocked by the waiter who according to us DOES NOT DESERVE THIS JOB ! Food was good . He took our orders wrongly , drinks came in the middle of the starters despite the fact we asked twice. Wine came wrong ... Some drinks even never came ! Main course came cold. Dessert after a wait of 25 mns. We spoke to the manager after the dinner who was very caring, to voice out our anger. This man waiter should not , does not deserve this job. He does not seem to be willing to work. He is unprofessional and not at all customer orientated. I feel for the new owner of the place and hope she makes the good decisi...
Sarlat was heaving when we visited and people were queueing for tables. We were greeted in a very friendly manner and offered a table inside the restaurant which we gratefully accepted. The tables were thoughtfully distanced in view of the current COVID regulations. The menu was in line with other restaurants in Sarlat, mainly duck or steak but my husband chose an omelette which made a nice change. I chose a three course set menu which was very good value. Wine was by the bottle rather than the usual carafe so I drank a little more than normal. The atmosphere was very warm and friendly and we enjoyed the experience immensely. We hope to return the next time we are in the area.
We ate lunch here on a recent trip to the Dordogne. There is lots of choice for both adults and children, with a fixed menu or a la Carte. I had the magret du canard which was enormous! Followed by chocolate mousse for pudding. All in all a pleasant experience.
