We've had good meals all holiday and knew a bad one was coming up. It's always on the cards when you are sticking to a budget. This was it. After a long drive in the mountains with two of the kids, and picking up the eldest off the ferry from Ibiza at Denia, we were all tired and hungry. In the dark, this roadside restaurant in a rural setting looked ideal. It was after 10pm and the place was quiet, just a scattering of Spanish families who made the restaurant seem more authentic. (We hadn't yet seen the huge wooden wagon inside and the baskets and farm tools hanging off the high ceiling . I digress. (But it looked like one of those eateries attached to a theme park that hasn't been updated...
We returned to La Redonda in October 2017 as it had been a favourite of ours many years ago. The food was nowhere near as god. They used to be the best around for a reasonably priced paella, which itself was very good. We were served a starter of very plain food, an enormous plain salad much of it left uneaten and patatas bravas, which was a plate of chips covered with tomato sauce. The paella was poor, rice with beans and just a few bits of chicken. We were charged 14 euros for a jug of sangria which did not taste right. The whole bill was very expensive for such a poor meal. Would not return.
The restaurant was empty when we arrived at about 9pm so wasn’t sure what to expect and there are some mixed reviews, however we were pleasantly surprised by this place. The owner was a very nice man he was attentive made sure our food was cooked right. The food came out in no time, the steak was cooked nicely and the pizzas were very good, nice thin stone baked pizzas. It’s not expensive and the food tasted good, it’s no Michelin star but it is a good honest hearty meal.
We ate here twice last week during a visit to Javea and loved it. Both times we sat in the covered outside area but there appeared plenty of inside seating.There is a play area at the rear that kept the kids from getting bored. This is not a high end gastro experience, nor does it try to be. It is a good local restaurant. The food was good and plentiful, and with a set menu of the day for €12 15 fantastic value. If the owner was better at marketing his Resturaurnt would be full because it is a hidden gem. Medium level food , tasty and prepared well . The Resturaunt has a children's play area with swings and slides for bored youngsters and parents wanting to have fun ! Value for money 5 Service 5 What they sell you is what you get 5 Just easy , no frills super agricultural decor!
Have, unfortunately, eaten here twice. not sure which time was the worse. We had been told that the fish was top rate. It wasn't, it was over-cooked and rubbery (this was lenguado, not pulpa) Seating is overcrowded and there was a smell of drains. Not a good experience.
I think that the location away from other amenities may limit the popularity of this good restaurant. Both the daily menus and the alacarte offerings are well presented and good value.
Brilliant food typically Spanish. Good service. Children's play area. Very good value 3 course meal for €10.95 including wine, beer or water. Will definitely be going again. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
This restaurant is only open in the high season, but is a nice simple restaurant with acceptable prices. No top kitchen but acceptable.
