We visited La Summa on a weekday night and were seated by the window. The staff at the restaurant was extremely warm and welcoming. The restaurant was charming and the ambience was perfect for a date, with not too much noise. We started off with a pistacciocini which was a perfect cocktail for a summer evening. For the mains, we ordered the Manicotti and the shrimp pasta. Both the mains were good, but the marinara sauce in both could have been a little more flavourful. The portions were large and hence, we didn’t have much space left for dessert!
Lovely small spot in the North End that feels authentic and has delivered great food on multiple visits. Have tried multiple different starters, entrees, and specials that all were very good. Good to make a res in advance, the place is small so it can get a little loud but I don't mind. The short rib ravioli special and Barbara's Special were highlights for me, but my friends and family that have been always enjoyed their meals.
Got the gamberi siciliano and it was a pile of pasta and microwaved veggies and shrimp. The food was not good. It's a shame because the place is lovely and comfortable and the service was phenomenal. Perhaps some of the other dishes are better!
