This little gem has been open for over 20 years and is still turning out some of the best French Cuisine in the Lower Nation part of the region around Papineauville-Montabello Quebec. This is only around an hour East of Ottawa and a short 20 minute trip West from Hawkesbury. The building is an old historic home and the seating is limited to about 10 tables. This is the place to go with good friends and make an evening of it. The service is Continental which means that the meal will last over two hours. This is very good if you are having a wonderful evening chatting with your good friends or having a romantic evening with your beloved. We were recently at that restaurant with guests from out of town and our meals were all excellent from beginning to the end no matter what one had. Amount of food was just perfect, sauces rich (as in old French cuisine) and excellent. Very limited wine selection but it serves the purpose. I feel compelled to write because of the very negative review written by one customer. I have been to this restaurant several times because we own a cottage in the region. Have never had a disappointing experience. It is true that the owner's wife is quite talkative but that is part of the charm of the place. If one wants fast service, there are many other places, even in and around tiny Papineauville, where you can get a quick meal. I could not agree more vehemently with the last review. We ate at La Table de Pierre Delahaye on the same night. The food was sublime from the home made rabbit terrine to the perfectly presented and utterly delicious poached pear. Chef Pierre personally cooks and assembles every plate. The ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality. I doubt highly that they are from Costco, but even if they are, I defy anyone to make them taste as good. Jacqueline is a warm and welcoming hostess with an encyclopaedic knowledge of French food a wine. While it's true that English is her second language, she is running a French restaurant, after all. Eating at this restaurant at least once is a must. The space is super clean, the food is excellent and the owner and his wife are extremely sympathetic. They take time to talk to you as if you were long time acquaintances. During my last visit (2 weeks ago), I was introduced to the live rabbits used to make terrines. Jacqueline, the owner's wife is super nice. Her husband, the owner and chef is also very nice. I am pretty sure that we will go and visit them again.
This restaurant now only takes reservations, no walk-in and don't expect the place to be packed, it's usually very quiet. Expect a delicious meal, through the course of your evening. We had an excellent dinner at La Table. The food was well prepared and just the right amount was served. The wine was well chosen and the atmosphere was pleasant and cozy. Service is charming, personable and not rushed. The restaurant is run by the owners and they take pride in their business.

The food was delicious and perfectly prepared. The service was pleasant and Jacqueline takes great pride in making it personal as well. Not a place to go to if time is an issue.
