So we were off recently to Saint Andre de Cubzac to meet friends whom we have known for almost 40 years. The chef came to Bordeaux to work as sous chef at La Pavillon des Boulevards. Now he has decamped across the river to create a little jewel box restaurant, which describes its food as “franco japanese”. Our meal began with a chou fleur cream. A handful of lightly dressed greens and sprouts sat atop a soft cooked egg. It was sitting on a bed of cauliflower “rice” with the creamy soup surrounding it. A thin sliver of crunch...
We were recommended this lovely little restaurant by the proprietors of our accommodation at Manoir d’Astree. It is a lovely little place, with a great atmosphere appearing popular with locals and visitors and it was full for evening dinner and so we would definitely recommend making a reservation. The menu is very small offering an amuse bouche, one entree then a choice of one fish or one meat main dish and then one dessert or cheese to choose from. Seiji is an artist and today's meal of courgette gazpacho with a low-temp egg, codfish with miso and hazelnut willow and dessert of peach soup with brownie was out of this world. Very small, make sure you reserve first. The menu changes everyday : one starter, a choice of fish or meat one dessert. For fussy eaters, or people on restricted diets it may be a bit of a problem. The food is good an oriental take on French cuisine.
The diner i will say the food — was fantastic absolutely perfect nothing to add, not the case for the service she have nothing to do there the manner and style is missing even she is smiling and friendly not to be there
Imaginative and innovative cooking in unpretentiousness surroundings. Best in the region, book in advance. Delightful waitress manages to keep the drinks and foodcoming out single handed.
amazing trip.. a nice scenario in 5 plates comin in a sequence of tastes wolrdwide spices mix with french and japanese classics. recomended to reserve one week even one moth before.
Price for a lunch 18€ . I could be double and still worth it. Best food in the area. Really recommended! Friendly service on top of excellent food!
