My wife and I decided to dine at this establishment as we have never have eaten there before even after having been on Belle Ile for at least 8 times. And I have to say it was good decision as it was excellent. Actually better than expected (also when reading previous comments . The food was very delicious and nicely decorated. This restaurant is in the center of the magnificent fortress designed by Vauban, who is responsible for creating a number of seaside fortresses throughout Brittany in the 1700’s. The food is unforgettable and served with impeccable style and panache. An amuse bouche of cold asparagus soup with tiny shellfish was distinctive and delicious. With my husband we took the lunch menu limited options available, so we assumed the quality would be good. Overall the starter was pleasant, but the main course beef, came almost blue even if I have asked it well cooked. Also the vegetables and patatos lacked taste. Really disappointing considering the good situation of the restaurant and moreover rembering the pleasure of an exquisite dinner the day before with perfectly cooked meat, fish and vegetables in a nearby restaurant downhill.
La Table du Gouverneur is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. I had dinner there with my partner on a week day. The restaurant was very quiet and we could enjoy a very romantic evening. The prices were quite reasonable for such a restaurant, and the food was amazingly good the wine as well. The waiters are friendly, discrete and efficient. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It was an unforgetable dinner!
