This looks like an average French bar or restaurant from outside, but the food served in here is cooked and presented like it would be in the finest restaurant in Paris, but without the Parisian prices that go with it! We had an evening meal here and both had, probably, the best steaks that we have ever had. We were pointed in this direction by the French neighbours of the gite we are staying in so pleased they did. Very little English is spoken by the staff, which was OK for us, but the staff are really friendly. The wine is reasonably priced too. We had a meal for two, including wine for 64 euros, which would have been double in some other restaurants.
This small hotel in Melrand is very popular with the locals (and tourists in summer) for good reason. The ouvrier lunches are great value for money. They mostly vary between nice and almost cordon blue. Very occasionally there's a disaster! This has only happened to us when we've eaten late. If you get there between 12 and 12.30 you can be virtually sure of a good meal. 1.15 onwards, though, can be a problem. Either the food can have dried out or it can have run out, leaving a poor alternative! If you get there early, though, you'll be treated to food of a quality that's a cut above the average ouvrier.
This is an absolute hidden gem with food of a Michelin star quality, without the Michelin star price! 29 euros will get you three courses on a Saturday evening in a lovely old building with a choice of starters, main course and dessert. The main course that I had was beef cooked with a foie gras sauce, which was to die for. The dessert is always a choice of chocolate, vanilla or fruit theme all done in a different way, and always delicious. All the ingredients seem top notch. Wine is reasonably priced too. Always a memorable experience.
This three-way meal for a test shot was a masterpiece in the kitchen we enjoy these dishes made with natural products, with a knowledge of the culinary art and the delicateness of its dishes. This place never fails to hit the mark. The Menu Ouvrier at lunchtime is always value for money and really good quality for 11€, drinks included. The service is excellent, even when it is really crowded at lunchtime. A very good choice of dishes in the evenings.

We often visit this cosy restaurant and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The lady owner is very welcoming and has some English and is helpful with the menu. It is essential to book in the high season.
