I have just returned from one of the most unpleasant evening dining experiences I've had in 50 years of eating in France.I've eaten at this restaurant many times and keep trying to find something good to say about it.But tonight's meal was a disgrace. Overpriced, sultry service, food I would not in any way serve to my friends at home. Pretentious.Nice location, nice view - but I came here with friends to eat!The lamb was inedible, chunks of sinue and fat one couldn't even cut through.When I asked the proprietor, Katie, whether she would eat this rubbish she just shrugged and said it was the finest French gigot - well maybe but if that's as good as it gets then .... well maybe look to New Zea...
On a recent day trip to the region south of Crest to visit Cliousclat and Mirmande, we stopped for lunch at this recommended restaurant.The restaurant has interior and exterior seating, and we chose to sit outside. There is a lovely patio, well-shaded by trees and umbrellas, looking southward over meadows and forests towards the Rhone River - a very pleasant setting on a sunny and hot day.We selected the menu with specials of the day for the entree and main dishes and were disappointed with both. The food was alright, not outstanding. The service was really poor. We were asked to come for an early sitting and when we arrived as requested the staff were still sitting over their own meal. Then retired outside for a group cigarette whilst along with other customers, we sat waiting. After our orders were taken it was then almost 2 hours before we were served our main course. We saw the young waiter come out with our meals and having wondered around disappeared inside again. A waitress then appeared with the same plates. Very comfortable and welcoming French Restaurant (Hotel) in small village. We were made very welcome, the service was good, food was excellent (I enjoyed all 3 courses) and if we lived nearby I would certainly visit again! Have eaten several times here and always enjoy it. Highly recommend for lunch - €31 menu is great value for excellent food and an incredible view when you sit outside. Service is good, even allowing me to practise my French and not wince too heavily as I mangle their language!
Food was overpriced, cold, stingy portion sizes and not particularly nice. The wine was good and dessert was nice. Views amazing even with the addition of a power station on the landscape. If you're looking for good value food at a reasonable price then give this place a miss.
This is maybe the fifth time we had dinner in La Treille Muscate. Food was excellent totally lived up to the high French standards and affordable at the same time. People were very friendly. We will be back!

Five of us met in Cliousclat and we booked the half board deal for two nights. The location was brilliant and the food was great. The breakfast was also very nice.
