We booked a table for 4 on a sunny and warm sunday at la Verniaz. Coming from the bordering Switzerland area, by boat, we took the funiculaire to reach the restaurant. The restaurant is situated upper Evian, right behind the Tennis court belonging to the...Evian Resort. The table was prepared in the shady terrace of the Hotel restaurant. We were warmly welcome and took the suggested Curaçao-based Champagne apperitive and ordered a series of overwhelming meals from the suggested menus (Hirondelle and Mésange Bleue). we visit la verniaz for more than 20 years and for most of them it is our favorite choice. after a short immersion in quality, it is now back on the very high standard we had grown to love. today we ate. in the garden, which is so relaxing in the summer months. we enjoyed a menu of crabs, kalb tournedo and the famous soufflé by verniaz with a good bottle wein with excellent service throughout. long this venerable institution can go on!

Unfortunately, the service at the evening of our visit was not on the way. very long wait because our order was forgotten. the brot had to be ordered extra and then came without butter, which had to be ordered extra. Dishes...were bland. it was missing the funke. pity, the basic would be really good. the waiters tried hard, but somehow they were not very organized. all in all, an evening they would have done without.
we live in walking distance from Verniaz, but for years not since it had some problems. today visited for lunch, very nice day so in the location to dine in the beautiful courtyard. all courses delicious and service was excellent. wants to visit again soon
