L'Abri Des Pelerins

There do not appear to be many options for food while touring this area of the battlefields unless you packed a picnic basket. This place was a welcome respite on a very hot day. We arrived as lunch service and kitchen was closing down around 3 pm. Fortunately, the servers let us know they still had baguette sandwiches in the cold case. Two sandwiches, a beer and a mineral water made for a welcome break on the outside café under cover.Service was friendly and prices were reasonable for a restaurant that had location, location and location.

This place is the closest you'll find after visiting the Douaumont ossuary, and thank God, it's a good place to get a nice bite to eat, regarding how desert the whole area is. The parking is probably packed during the summer, as the restaurant must also be. The menu is mainly rural stuff, plain and rich French food, the prices are very decent and the staff friendly and efficient. No complaints about the portion sizes, we were in and out with a full belly for under 45€ for two with dessert and coffee in just under an hour.

We stopped at l'abri des Pelerins for lunch on July 2015.The restaurant is the only one in the area, so you pay for the price. However, considering the alternatives is to drove to Verdun or further north, it was a welcome surprise. The food is simple. Omelet and salads. The salad was on the small side especially considering the price, but the quality was fine. Fine for a simple lunch on a day spent visiting the memorials.

We only came here because the Ossuary was closed for a couple of hours over lunch, and we thought it would be awful - just there to take advantage of unsuspecting tourists. Actually, it was a pleasant surprise. The staff were perfectly friendly, albeit not effusive, and the food was good standard bistro fare at a reasonable price. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Abri des Pelerins was an awesome little eatery in the heart of the Verdun battlefield. Good, tasty food, good service. However: According the former proprietor, Mme Vaudron, she is retiring, the restaurant will eventually reopen but is currently being remodeled. She thought maybe June 2017 it could reopen, but that is not firm.

Ideally located just before Ossuary de Douamont and Fleury, this is a warm and welcoming cafe with a good range of basic lunch items such as quiche Lorraine, Croques Messiuers etc. The pression beer is very tasty too. Friendly service, clean and reasonably priced.

This is the only restaurant in the area so the prices are a bit above those in town. We had omelette with mushrooms which was very good. There was lots of space, the place obviously caters to busloads of tourists in season. Service was very good.

Again mixed reviews but a lot of tourist pass through, as I have several times on my way to somewhere, I have never actually had a meal there, but each time I’ve stopped the service has always been friendly. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

I was on a pilgrimage several times (a suitable place,) but today at a holiday stop. attentive service, good eating at a decent price. the renovation looks good.

Visited for lunch good basic food and drink served by friendly efficient staff. Quick service and well presented.
