We went to Locarno for a long weekend. In the past we went regularly to La Chiesa because of the great food, quality and owners. This time we recognized that the concept changed. New lamps, new terrace and new food menue and new waiters. Already from the start we were amazed by the amuse bouche. Rarely we were splashed in other restaurants. The starter (tagliolino with Rogen, basil pesto) was a dream. Afterwards the fish was delicious. All made from natural ingredients and of course handmade. This restaurant is simply divine. We visited on the evening of the 6th and I have to say that it proved to be one of the best all round places to eat in Ticino. My wife chose ossobuco and I chose the piri piri prawns which was apparently a speciality and they were offered as hot or as mild as you like. They were superb. We both selected sweets which were just perfection. The evening was rounded off with coffee and sweet meats which were to die for. The service was great attentive without being intrusive. During our yearly sojourn in Ascona, this summer we went several times alone and with friends to our favourite restaurant in the area for lunch and dinner. The meals were always absolutely perfect, in taste and in presentation. We loved some of these mouthwatering combinations: i.e Insalata di polipo, finocchio, menta e frutta della passione con focaccia alle olive or Crèma Brûlée profumata con verbena al limone con pesca sciropata e gelato allo yogurt-limone I just want to add that this summer Mr. Borsoni found a way to solve the parking problem and from Thursday- Sunday evenings there is valet parking available.
We are faithful guests of La Chiesa since Mr. Claudio Borsoni opened his restaurant in this very special place. We have never been disappointed. As other reviewers state the food is outstanding and the view is beautiful. The only problem I see is the parking which in this area is reduced, especially in the evenings. Hervorragend. Eines meiner liebsten Restaurants im Tessin. Vor allem die Vorspeise "lauwarme Gänseleber" mit einem Glas Süsswein ist der absolute Hit. Im Sommer ist dieses Gericht nicht immer verfügbar. Daher mein Tip: Bei der Reservation unbedingt diese Vorspeise vorbestellen. Auch alle anderen Gerichte sind sehr zu empfehlen! Der Service ist vorzüglich und zu allerletzt ist der Rückweg zu Fuss nach Locarno sehr eindrücklich (ca. 15 Minuten)
We were in the area and, by coincidence, found the restaurant situated behind the church. What we then experienced was just wonderful we sat outside on this summer evening, had something to drink and eat and just enjoyed the setting. Definitely a restaurant, we will go to again when in the area in the future.
Wir waren heute zum Lunch dort. Das Essen - frische hausgemachte Ravioli mit Kalbfleisch Füllung war vorzüglich. Auch das Pfirsich Sorbet war sehr gut. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.
