Went there for dinner midweek before the movies and we managed to get a table easily as only 1/4 full. The staff were very attentive and friendly, we didn't have to wait long before we ordered.The restaurant was pretty clean and the table had a full stock of chop sticks, cutlery and sauces which made a good impression.The food portions are on the big side, no complaint but beware as you don't really need entrees.Both our dishes were nice and tasty, although the nasi goreng could have had more flavour, by the end of a large bowl I was over it.As mentioned elsewhere, there is a 2% credit card surcharge which does sour the experience as the prices are high enough for Asian meals.
Wanted to try this restaurant in Southland as it's opposite the Village Cinemas after seeing a movie. It was a full house but still got good service with good portion sizes and tasty food. Beer is around $8, as is a glass if wine. 4x chicken satay skewers was $10.50, Nasi Goreng $15, Roti $6 & Beef Randang $23.50. So as Asian restaurants go in the area, a few $$ above the average so I wouldn't be rushing back.
I was slightly let down as I expected a lot from what friends have said. The food portions were so big, couldn't finish it all so don't order too much off the menu. You can possibly even share one bowl. It was okay the presentation is nice, so is the place itself but the food didn't live up to my expectations. But if you're in southland and you fancied something different I would go here.
We are regular diners at this restaurant. If we are ever hungry whilst visiting Southland, then this is our go to place with a great choice of food with decent serving sizes, and the pictures in the menu are exactly what you get on the plate when served. Staff are friendly and service is usually very prompt.

The food was okay. About the same as Newmarket.The service was typically very ordinary but the big annoyance was the small sign at the cash register for the credit card surcharge.Not just for transactions under $10This 2% applies to all transactions.Won't be back.
Had a bite to eat here with a few mates. Service was excellent. First time here so not sure what to expect. Food turned out to be quite tasty, I'm not an expert ok no this style of food, but it seemed to be ok considering its at Southland.
Regularly pop in here when at Southland - laksa is decent - have tried all on the menu. Satay entree pedestrian but satay sauce good. My one year old likes the roti and curry puffs. Could do worse than eat here if you are in Southland

I tried the king prawn laksa, which included vermicelli and egg noodles. The soup was perfectly balanced with the right amount of spiciness and creaminess, and there was plenty of it.
I didn't find the seafood laksa or nasi lemak at this restaurant to be exceptional. I'm not sure if it is connected to Laksa King.
