We went for the Sunday roast carvery today having heard many positive reviews. This is served in the upstairs restaurant between 12 and 3 on Sundays, we booked a table for 6 at 1-30. When we arrived it was busy and most tables were full however there were plenty of staff and we received good service at the table with regards to taking our order for drinks and starters and these were served promptly. The problem we encountered was when we came to go to the carvery for our main course. There is nowhere appropriate to queue whilst waiting to be served so what happens is that everyone just snakes through the restaurant and for those unfortunate to be seated at the tables towards the back of the...
Lovely mothers day meal. Little chocolate gifts on the table was a nice gesture. Carvery food was lovely. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. The carver was so lovely and really engaging with the guests. I do agree with other reviewers that they do seem to cram the tables in and there’s no clear walkway to the carvery so you end up having to squeeze through people who are trying to eat, or having to ask them to move so you can get through. Really enjoyed our meal as a family so have made enquiries and booked in for Xmas
We decided to try the Sunday roast. Very substandard, not what I expected. The soup was barely warm, the potatoes looked and tasted well done with poor meat and vegetables. To be honest I would say a hot plate disaster. Maybe I expect to much, the dining experience was pretty grim. The fiction room (not a restaurant) big difference, was plain and lacked imagination. We paid, left and won’t be back.
I stayed in a deluxe room for the night and enjoyed fantastic views and a spacious room. Although we had a few minor issues with the room, the receptionist was very good and apologetic and even comped our breakfast. The buffet breakfast was fresh and tasty. Overall, the staff were very helpful, polite, and easy to work with. Would definitely stay here again.
