L'annexe du Cafe Francais

After two hours walking around Luxeuil les Bains (absolutely lovely place, well worth a visit), it was time to find somewhere to eat. Unfortunately, as we have discovered everywhere we have been this week, it is this region's annual holiday, so most places are closed. But we were pleased to find this restaurant open. It was almost 1pm. The few outdoor tables were all taken (except for one which was in the full heat of the sun), so we opted to sit indoors, which was fine. I was very impressed indeed. Four of us (two couples) ordered the three-course lunch menu consisting of a superb cold green tomato soup with a vegetable sorbet, fish with quinoa and vegetables and a knockout chocolate dessert. A beer, three glasses of a serviceable house Chardonnay and four coffees rounded off an excellent lunch of almost Michelin-star quality, and the bill came to a ridiculously cheap Euro 115. This was perhaps the best value-for-money meal I have ever eaten in France!

Beautifully decorated cosy restaurant, a touch of class with a humoristic twist ! Very friendly and competent staff. Original menu, nice choice of dishes, quality, fresh and tasty food. Very fair prices. Will definitely go back when in Luxeuil.

What a wonderful place. All the food was very fresh and tasteful. The waitress was very friendly and welcoming, both to us and our kids. We had a great lunch experience for a very correct price!
