2 hours under the shade of a glorious old walnut tree with 50 other diners (all French), a five course meal of local delights, beautiful red wine got to say it beats roast and Yorkshire puddings We opted for the 27 euro Perigordine menu (although the 21 euro also looked good) Country soup (huge tureen at the table), fois grad (with smoked duck, melon, salad and quince), confit with potatoes and walnut salad, small cheese plate and finally choice of pear, peach, walnut or chocolate desert The 6 mile cycle from Montignac was so worth it, albeit the return was slower Two ladies working really hard serving all the tables but so attentive and finally “Jeanine” came out and spoke to every table in...

all, I say well everything is there to make you spend a good time: the frame with the fireplace and the vichy tablecloths, the very smiling welcome, the conviviality that starts with the dinner brought on the table for a moment of sharing, the quality of the products so well highlighted by a traditional cuisine that you no longer find, etc ... a big thank you to jeanine and his team for this time spent in your company! the small, the passage of the jeanine to each table at the end of the meals, what kindness, goodness and know how to do. not to be missed if you pass on the side of the montignac lascaux!!! thank you!

Our hotel advised us to book as it is one of the few in the (very rural) locality. As it was hot, all tables were outside under the trees (and were occupied), and we had a lovely view of the locality. Staff were very friendly and coped with our rusty French. Although the dinner menu had limited choice, the food was what we would expect from a local restaurant fresh ingredients, simple dishes and well cooked and presented (you are warned: foie gras, a local speciality, was very evident on the menu). Best of all the bill was very reasonable for a set menu with wine better quality and value than our meals in Bordeaux!

We visited this family run ferme auberge on a Sunday lunchtime and had the €29 menu. The food was adequate and the service friendly but not up to the standard of some others in this beautiful area.
