We managed to get a table here thanks to our host where we were staying. Sitting on the banks of the Dordogne, it has a beautiful surrounding and really epitomises France. The owner is English but the menu was pure French. Unfortunately we hit on a night when there were 2 staff members missing, but this did not distract from our enjoyment of the evening. Our table was serviced by a delightful young woman, who was polite and very helpful (it later turned out it was the owners' daughter). The menu was not large, but there was something for everyone and when the food arrived it was delicious. Definitely visit this restaurant if you are in the area, you will not be disappointed.
What a beautiful time we had at le Barrage. The food was to die for and the service was incredible. We booked for 21 ladies on a Hen Weekend. We got lost on the bike ride there and were 2 hours late. Despite this we were given the most amazing welcome. Lunch was fresh and french and tasty and the wine kept coming. Cannot recommened this place highly enough. Such a kind, friendly, family run restaurant. When we were stuck for taxis home more wine and blankets appeared and manager arranged a local contact and sorted us out. Found this restaurant by chance and were so glad we did. It's a beautiful, shady location on the banks of the Dordogne with a really friendly and helpful proprietor. Luckily for us she was English so we didn't need our phrase book but there were French diners there as well. The choice of dishes was vast and all sounded delicious but we both gave in to temptation and ordered the steak which she said was the best for miles. It definitely was, probably the best I've ever had! I also managed to squeeze in a delicious chocolate mousse for desert. Absolutely fantastic place to eat. Thank you so much!
We visited this restaurant in a nearby village for Sunday lunch. We sat outside on the terrace looking out across the Dordogne river. The restaurant offers an option of three starters, followed by beef, pork or lamb roasts or steak and kidney pie with all the trimmings, cheese and/ or dessert to follow. Prices were fixed at €23 for two courses, €26 for three courses or €30 for four courses. Avery enjoyable meal. The cost for each couple including wine was about €60 very good value for what we ate and drank. Will definitely be making a return visit for a Sunday lunch.
Warm welcome and easy booking for family of nine including 5 children aged 8-13. Lovely setting by the river Dordogne. Classic Perigordian food including entrecôte, trout, duck, garden vegetables and stunning deserts. Great €6 kids menu, starters ranging €6-€12 and mains €10-€16. Superb value for money. My frois gras was beautifully cooked and confit of duck leg with potatoes and vegetables melted in the mouth. We immediately booked again.
Went with friends for Sunday lunch. Choice of roast beef or chicken for main course (different each week). Choice of three starters and three desserts or cheese to follow. Very tasty and well cooked meal. Total bill for 4 people including drinks, wine and coffee came to €110 which we thought was very reasonable. We will be back again.
Had a lovely evening meal. Well looked after by Amanda. More importantly our children were made welcome despite being slightly crazy! Then the icing on the cake was how reasonable the price was. Would highly recommend.
Amanda, who comes from Devon UK, is a fantastic host for your holiday. She cannot be perfect all the time, but her taking care of her guests is absolutely wonderful
Lovely location by the river. Unexpected find for lunch. Reasonable pricing. Classic dishes presented well. Worth a detour and there are numerous walks closeby
