Couple of days back i stopped at Le Bristo for a beer while coming back from Cap Gres Nez. It was an awfully cold day and to add to my miseries it was raining. So i parked by Harley outside the restaurant and ran into the warm restaurant. I ordered a beer and sat there for a while at the bar stool. I must admit the tree beautiful ladies who run the restaurant are amazing. they helped me in finding my way to cap blanc nez on a map. Though we had language issues in talking to each other they helped me plot my route on a map. the part which i love the most is this: i was not having a good protective jacket for riding and the ladies said that cap blanc nez is going to be windy and cold. and gues...
We chose this restaurant having seen its reviews on Trip Advisor and having spent a few hours of the morning exploring Cap Gris Nez on our way back to Eurotunnel. We weren't disappointed. As predicted by other reviewers, the other diners were local people, some obviously on their work lunch breaks. The waitress welcomed us warmly and accepted our fairly poor French even though it was clear by the end that she spoke very good English. An interesting prix fixe menu at 24 euros was a bit beyond us having spent the weekend eating our way through the region but we wanted a simple single course which the menu provided more than adequately. This little hôtel, pension,restaurant is exceptionnel and very welcoming...the food was fantastic,fresh and very tasty...the service excellent and very friendly! One of the best we experienced in France over a two week period...I agreed to eat indoors when it was recommended due to hour of the day and the sinking sun. Glad I made that décision. I spent an evening here with my family (big children, ex-husband, daughter her partner) two days ago. The food was OK, fresh fish etc., but not top. For example, chips were not freshly made, but deep frozen, scallops were sinked into too much too cheesy sauce. The price was average, the young people who lead the place were warm and enthusiastic. You also have hotel accommodation (which I did not experience), but bedrooms have no toilet, bathroom is in the corridor.
We discovered this restaurant through the web. Our day trip to Calais was broken up wondefully by our trip to Le Bistro. Three of us had moules as starters fantastic. My colleagues had cod and one had steak as a main. I had steak tartar as my main course served as I love it DIY. Very friendly staff, highly recommended. Obviously a restaurant for locals and all the better for it. Highly recommended.
Went to this restaurant after crossing through chunnel mainly because of previous good reports. We were not disappointed with the quality and quantity. About 80 mussells for starters and 130 for mains I had starter and wife had for main!! . Friendly and amusing owners. From an English point of view this was a proper French restaurant. Would go again.
We stopped off after reading good reviews and we were not disappointed. It was a great meal with friendly staff. The children's menu was good and the food was high quality. The seafood stew was outstanding so tasting and very impressive. The moules were great too.
We were here for an early dinner one afternoon. We ordered moule a la cream and a fish soup. The mouth was great, but the soup was not so good, only tasted fish, no spices. The bread we got to the mouth was too old (dry and chew)
