We had one evening in Saint-Malo before taking the ferry to Portsmouth. Our hotel recommended one restaurant which was not open, so we literally turned around to find Le Bistrot de Cathy. The restaurant was not yet open either, with the staff actually finishing off their own evening meal. We were warmly welcomed, and offered our selection of tables. all the tables for two are small so we needed to be careful of how we arranged things. The space outside is fairly narrow so tables could not really be any larger. Our moules were delicious and the frites nicely crisp. Service was attentive, without being over whelming. My wife and I visited yesterday for lunch. My wife chose the moules menu which also included ice cream for dessert and a glass of white wine. I chose the galette menu which included a sweet crepe and a boule of cider. My wife commented to the manager that it was the nicest meal of her holiday so far (we've been here 2 weeks). Both my courses were very good too. The service was friendly and attentive and the total cost including tea and coffee was just over 30€. We will visit again.
Went there as 2 couples on a Friday night and the place was empty like most of the neighboring restaurants. The staff were helpful and the food came quickly and was quite large. The streak was tender and flavoursome, the fish and chips were as expect3d and the mussels filed the pot. The deserts were all great. A good place to have a good solid dinner.
Service was good, and the owner is implicated in her restaurant, which we found very positive. Family business, and proud. Some of the food was good, and some was ok. Nothing was bad. A 7/10 overall. May return, but would not go out of our way.
