We went here after a visit to the castle of Meillant for a lunch with friends. The exterior does not appear to welcoming and the interior is rather plain. Choices were 2 different menus where you could opt for either starter main, main dessert or all three. We went for the chicken which was excellent, served in a creamy sauce together with a nice side dish with courgettes, garlic and quinoa. This was accompanied with fresh french fries which were also great. Portions were not super large but more then enough to feel satisfied. We had the local chateaumeillant wines to drink. Prices were 13,5 euro for the 2 out 3 menu and 4 euro per glass of wine. You should really go here if you are looking...
Made a reservation the morning prior for a what we hoped would be a typical country Sunday lunch after visiting the Abbaye de Noirlac (definitely worth the visit). Arrived to find a note taped to the locked door of the dark restaurant that it was closed due to a catering job! It would have taken 10 seconds to call to inform us so that we could have made other plans; Sunday lunch in the country is difficult without reservations. Clearly the restaurant couldn't be bothered. Won't be trying again.
For the price it was small, but for the kitchen it was a GREAT PLAYER. The welcome is very hot, even pleasant as if we were accustomed as we had never been customers! Thanks to the boss who, although being alone, provides an energetic service and always with the smile from beginning to end. It's a succulent house! Although I am in the centre of the world, I strongly advise you to this establishment!
By passing through the geographical center of France in my country of cross by bike, it would have been shameful not to stop in this pretty little restaurant. The manager is very kind and I enjoyed the meal with what it takes in the plate. Thank you!
