We have dined here for many years and always had a most enjoyable experience. This time they seemed to be very short staffed and it totally changed our experience. The food was served and although we requested our steak cooked medium it was very rare and we could not flag anyone to fix the food. We were not check on again. At the end we were given the desert menus but left for at least 20 minutes when we finally just paid and left. If they were so short staffed they should not have taken our reservation or informed us in advance.
good, classic French landed. both my friend and I had game terrines to follow by rabbit cacciatore. good aromas in both, well boiled. cheeseboard was nicely varied in style. service was good enough, eating was a little slow (but I don't mind, I personally don't like to crash). the wein was favorable for london (except for dessert/fortified) if not overly exciting. would definitely recommend, friends who eat good, old school French atmosphere and friendly service.
This was our first visit to Le Cafe du Marche and it will not be our last! Lovely ambience with a piano providing gentle background music. Really interesting menu and excellent service throughout the evening. Lovely to have our red wine decanted. All food was excellent- just wish I had left enough room for cheese or dessert!
We love this place so much. We got married here 5yrs ago and return every year for our anniversary and they always remember us and bring us complimentary champagne. So thoughtful and the food is delicious, the ambience is always very special with live piano. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Some of our food was cold, the mains were nicer than our starters. The cod croquettes starter was nice. Our lamb main was cooked nicely. Food is overpriced. Pianist creates a nice ambiance
the restaurant is a jewel in the center of the historical part of clerkenwell. excellent service and ambiente, although the prices were somewhat high.
This place is genuinely outstanding. Go once and you will go back time and time again--we do, every week! And don't feel guilty tipping the pianist!
