Two friends and I walked the twelve kilometers from the train station at Mennecy through a natural preserve incorporating artificial lakes created when sand and gravel quarries were abandoned and filled with water from the Essonne River. Le Chalet des Etangs is located on a narrow spit of land between two lakes. The interior of the restaurant is spacious enough to accommodate large groups and a shady outdoor dining area offers a pleasant environment during good weather.
