Excellent meal this Sunday afternoon on a lovely terrace, quiet because hidden behind the office of Tourism of Valloire. For starters we tried the snails in a croquille meaning an edible shell, they were 6 snails served piping hot in their sauce, with different...flavors to choose from. For the main course, my dad chose the scallops in curry sauce, I choose the deboned trout, grilled to perfection, (I even ate its skin , with grilled slivered almonds, in an elegant dressing, with wild rice and green beans andtiny pearls of alternating orange and green cantaloupe. I booked this restaurant on recommendations from tripadvisor and was not disappointed! I managed to send an email with the help the of a friend in French as my communication in English was not answered. Franck replied and via my translator we were booked in...for a party of 10 for my daughter's birthday celebrations. On arrival in Valloire I popped in to confirm my booking and found Franck so friendly and kind and with the help of sign language and my broken French I was assured that the evening would be a success. We stumbled upon this brilliant restaurant by taking a wrong turn and missing the restaurant we were supposed to be meeting other folk at and boy am I glad we did! Even in the middle of summer the cosy chalet atmosphere was lovely, the buzz,...the smells from the kitchen were so relaxing. Our food, chosen from a limited menu (that 's a positive) was spectacular. I had the pork ribs dangling from a vertical skewer which were melt in the mouth delicious and my father had the scallops which were cooked to perfection. Lovely venue in the centre of Valloire tucked away just off the main street, a gravel terrace, opposite the church north side). Perfect whether eating inside or outside. Other reviewers have amply covered the friendliness and generosity of our host Franck and his equally charming...partner Sylvie who is an absolute wizard in the kitchen..... every dish we tried was superb and we were a large group returning over several lunches! Would have loved to have dinner there but were booked as a group for hotel dinners : Ideal restaurant/café to just drop in for coffees or lunch, although I imagine it would be safer to book for dinner! the patron has a gruffen look at him, but he is actually a very welcoming and pleasant host. two of us took the steak, one the baby huh and the other the pork. for the steaks we both ordered the medium cook, but as they arrived, she was rare and the other looked right. Hidden behind the tourist office you will find this little gem of hospitality run by Sylvie and Franck. I 've been here already with smaller and larger groups and all my guests did relish the time they could spend in the Le Chalet des Saveurs . The...dishes, cooked by Sylvie are delicious, beautifully arranged and perfectly prepared. The event of being here as a guest is a wonderful experience not only for the food. There is Franck, running the service in the restaurant. He brings professional attitude, service orientation, perfect communication skills and a kind of attentiveness to your table that is hard to find. We will come back. With the feeling of retiring to friends.
the place is like a hidden pearl, small and tiny, but with a very cozy atmosphere. most dishes are well cooked and beautifully presented. we tried tartiflette and the blacksteak and both had a super tasty taste. the owner is very welcoming...and friendly, just as they would expect in a mountain hut. This restaurant has several strong assets: great quality food at correct prices (for what you get), charming interior (a kind of old shop, very causy), and an excellent host, entertaining his guests with plenty of charm. We had a memorable evening, with 8 friends.
