We visited the restaurant this evening August having seen some earlier reviews. We were welcomed warmly by the owner and were able to choose between sitting under cover or more in the open. We chose to sit more under cover , but our daughters...were pleased when all the lovely outdoor lights were switched on. The food was just amazing. The giant prawns were superb, and I had the catch of the day which was cod that melted in the mouth. Both our daughters had burgers, which went down very well. Dessert was lovely I had the poire Belle Helene, my husband and one daughter had the cheesecake, and our other daughter had chocolate mousse. A modest set up with a relaxed and very friendly atmosphere. Very welcoming, attentive staff but never overbearing or fussy. Whie the menu is shorter than other places, if you go with this you are rewarded with fresh, seasonal and locally sourced food which was...sensitively cooked. The fish main was delicately flavoured and delicious. My wife chose duck which were very tender and served on a skewer. We had both meat eaters and vegetarians in our party, all were full of praise for he meal when we left The prices I thought were very reasonable. On holiday here in the Dordogne with hubby and friends so driving around late one afternoon searching for somewhere to eat. Found Le Chien Vert through a metal door and up some steps set into the rocks. Greeted by the charming and enthusiastic patron...who spoke excellent English having spent many years in the U.S.A and welcomed us despite us not having booked beforehand. Le Chien Vert had only opened weeks before but it was busy with a lively atmosphere and the food was good. Highly recommended.

the best restaurant in the environment. eat excellent, much of it and served by the beautiful sophia and eva with thomas the cooking art. a great foundation in this beautiful against the dordogne. they need to visit the lunchtime or the evening and enjoy the ambiente and I promise they won't be disappointed. brenda and rod

Very good address, excellent reception, simple but true cuisine, with seasonal and local products. I recommend.
